Sustainable Lumber Inc is the parent company of Modern Mill, a zero-waste / circular manufacturer of a gorgeous wood alternative made from up-cycled rice hulls in Fernwood, Mississippi.

Our product ACRE offers all of the warmth and beauty of rich woods like ipe, teak and cedar with the low-maintenance convenience of composites. It is a practical solution for deforestation and a durable, new building material.

We operate in a Qualified Opportunity Zone, a rural community with high poverty levels. We embrace our role in the stability and wealth creation manufacturing offers and have created more than 130 quality jobs.

Since inception in 2018, Modern Mill has raised $50 million of capital to build a state-of the-art manufacturing facility in Fernwood, Mississippi and will use some of the proceeds from that new round to build a second facility.

In addition to our Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund status, Modern Mill is a Climate Tech investment delivering value across the ESG spectrum while offering the world a durable, sustainable building material capable of exquisite craft and replacing wood in most applications.
